Chemical Hearts

The intense feelings - and the chemical reactions they provoke inside of us when we are young - are the connecting thread of the movie. So we decided to bring them up in a unique and exciting experiment. We started by inviting people who are no longer teenagers anymore to share with us remarkable stories and special moments that they lived during this phase of life.

Using an EEG sensor to read brainwave and an ECG to monitor heartbeat, we were able to map the main feelings and reactions that their bodies manifested when reliving those memories. Adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine were converted into shapes and colors to form in real-time works of art that materialized the beauty of youthful feelings. The experiment turned into a fascinating video for social media that gave something to talk about and truly touched both people who are going and who have been through the whirlwind of feelings of adolescence.
